3 Instant Steps To Owning Your Energy

It is probably a little strange to think that energy can be “owned” considering energy is everywhere, in everything, accessible and available at any time.

Yet, we easily allow our own energy to be imbalanced and shifted depending on our environment.  Work related stress? An unruly coworker? Long commutes? A hard day at home? Do any of these trigger an imbalance in your energy?

There are many things in our surroundings and our environments that we cannot control.  HOWEVERRRR, what we can control, is how we respond to these events and situations. What we can control, is our own energy.  We can control how we respond to situations.

The next time you find yourself in an event that you feel is starting to shift your energy, try these steps to reign it back into alignment:

  1. Assess the vibe of your environment and the vibe of your own energy.  Scan your energy- how are you feeling?  Pay attention to your own body language.  What kind of actions or behaviors are you demonstrating? These are cues and signs that a certain environment or situation is not consistent with your energetic state, and its starting to throw you off.  For me personally, if I am talking with someone who is arrogant and self absorbed, my breathing becomes shallow and I get really anxious.  I just want to get the heck outta there!! I want to ask you what are your “energetic cues” when an environment or situation is not matching your energetic frequency? Not sure? You may want to practice assessing and scanning your energy multiple times a day to get an idea of how you respond to your surroundings.  Jotting this down will be great for reflection later in the day.
  2. Bring yourself back to center.  Ground yourself. Refocus.  Take a walk. Breathe.  Physically remove yourself from the environment or situation, and call yourself back into your true and essential self.
  3. Choose to respond with love.  Cheesy, I know, but seriously, love is always the answer.  People need love.  Its probably the reason why most people act like ass hats on any given day- they need some love! Empathy, compassion, and kindness are highly vibrational and can change the energy of the situation or environment.

At the end of the day, remember that YOU are in control of your energy.  You OWN it.  You may not be able to control your environment, but you can certainly control how you respond to it.
